Publishing House (Samara, Russia), Nicholas Roerich Museum (New York) and Fine
Arts Academy Gallery (Moscow, Russia) have published a unique album, dedicated
to the pictorial heritage of Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947) - great Russian artist,
thinker, scientist, poet, archeologist, pedagogue, public figure, and author
of the International treaty on the protection of cultural heritage.
The album-catalogue in two volumes includes more than 700 works of the artist. For the first time, the illustrated catalogue-raisonne of Nicholas Roerich's works from Russian and foreign museums has been published, including the private collections. This fact is of great importance due to the circumstance, that several thousands paintings and drawings of the artist are scattered over more than 30 countries.
For the last time, the big album and catalogue-raisonne have been published in the USSR more than 30 years ago, and have long become a rarity. We hope that the edition will fill this gap and represent a voluminous academic edition in two languages meeting the world polygraph standards.
We invite private owners and public institutions to co-operate in enriching the album and catalogue.
The well-known art-critics and experts of Roerich's art took part in preparation of the album. A long experience of co-operation with the leading Russian and foreign museums ? among which are State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, International Centre and Museum of Nicholas Roerich, State Museum of Oriental Art, Latvian National Art Museum (Riga), state and private galleries, museums and collections of Europe, Russia, India, Mongolia, and the USA - allows to collect, summarize, and represent the Roerich's art in the most complete way.
