The Saints Boris and Gleb are the saints …, beloved and honorable in Russia. Boris and Gleb are the sons of the prince Vladimir, who has christened Russia , and his Bulgerian wife, after the christening they got the names David and Roman. They were killed by order of his brother Svjatopolk. Before dying brothers were praying to Jesus Christ, who took free-will suffering. In many years the undecayed and non-blackend body of Gleb was found. He and his brother were buried in Vishgorod and miracles of recover took place on the grave. Russian people have seen in guiltless death of two young princes (Boris and Gleb were very young) the ecclesiastical exploit in name of faith. The reverence of Boris and Gleb began very soon after their death: they became the first Russian saints, who was canonized by orthodox church. During centuries saint warriors Boris and Gleb were honored like “mutually sharp sward”, which protect Russia from “intestine discords and enemy sward, from hunger and animosity, from any trouble”. On icon there is a wide-spread way of painting of saint brothers: they are painted in prince clothes with deep orange and green colours, riding horces like in their life. Their images, full of flashes of light, are not animated by warrior valour. There is insight of unknown and serene gentle readiness on Boris’s face, young Gleb is turned to his brother, his face looks the same way. They sit on horces solemnly and without any effort and they are on their way above gold-green tops of mountains and on the ground – the way, which is blessed by Jesus Christ within the heaven segment at the right part of the icon. Boris and Gleb look like fearless warriors, lost their fear thank to perfect love. They are painted fill with the ecclesiastical strength, that Russia set all hopes praying them about defence.
