Nikolay Dubovsky (1859-1918)
is a Russian landscape-painter. Nikolay Dubovsky attended the St. Petersburg Academy of Applied Arts (1877-1881). He was taught by the professor of landscape painting M.K. Clod. Since 1884 he was a member of the Peredvizhniki Association, and since 1889 he became one of its heads. He painted 400 pictures and more than 1000 etudes. His most famous picture is "Become Silent" (1890), in which the artist could transmit the silence before a thunder-storm. It was a new motive for Peredvizhniki.
