Victor Vasnetsov (1848-1926)
is a Russian landscape-painter, a genre painter, an author of the historical and fantastic plots pictures. Vasnetsov received his first art skills in Vyatka. Being the schoolboy of a spiritual seminary, simultaneously he studied drawing; he also helped the artist Ý. Andrioli paint the cathedral. Since 1868 to 1875 Victor Vasnetsov studied in the Petersburg Academy of Applied Arts. He was taught by P.V. Basin, V.V Vereshagin, and P.P. Chistyakov. In 1878 he moved to Moscow, and joined to the Peredvizhniki Association. The Vasnetsov's greatest and significant work is "The Bogatyrs" (1881-1898). This picture expresses greatness and potency of Russian people. His ability to decoration was very nice, because of that he participated in decoration of theatre performances. Last years the artist was interested in architecture very much.
