Van Gogh Vincent (1853-1890) - Dutch painter.
At the nine years age he was interested in drawing, but the real calling for painting has appeared only in 1880, after some failures - sentimental and religious. After working as the seller in the art gallery (Hague, London, Paris 1869-1876) and after several months of work as a salesman in a bookshop in Dordrecht (1877) and then after unfortunate predicant activity, in Van Gogh's life there came two great periods - Dutch and French (which in turn can be divided into some stages, depending on painter’s place of living). The catalogue of Van Gogh’s works consists of more than 850 pictures. Water colors and figures by quantity are equal to its picturesque works. Van Gogh was the first one who began building pictures by means of color spots. ‘’Let’s your light is shining for people - here that I consider a duty of everyone painter” (Van Gogh)
